Full/Cat-Back Systems for Vauxhall (Opel) Astra

When replacing the full exhaust system on your car, you can opt for a standard exhaust system or, as many car enthusiasts are now choosing, a cat-back system. The cat-back system is designed to increase the horsepower of the vehicle, as well as enhancing the sound/increasing the volume of the exhaust. The way this is achieved is through the replacement of the standard exhaust back box (rear silencer) and changing of the typical exhaust pipe arrangement. The cat-back system increases horsepower by allowing exhaust gases to flow faster through the exhaust using an increased size exhaust pipe and direct-flow back box design. The changes to the sound of the exhaust also result from the uninhibited flow of air through the exhaust’s back box. Standard design back boxes absorb noise and vibration to minimise the sound of the exhaust, where as the straight-through design of the cat-back exhaust system produces a louder and more pronounced exhaust sound.
