The Cars That LK Performance Customers Absolutely Love to Hate

Posted on: 08/01/2015

Whether it’s because they’re ugly and odd-shaped, poor on performance or perceived to be driven by 'numpties', there are some types of cars that people simply cannot stand.

We took to our Facebook and Twitter pages to find out which cars LK Performance fans love to hate, and which get their blood boiling every time they pass them on the road. Better buckle up, because it’s going to be a rage-fuelled ride!

Land Rover Evoque

Let’s kick off this list with a biggie: the Land Rover Evoque, favoured by footballers up and down the land (and Victoria Beckham). Our Facebook fan Austin McKay isn’t convinced however: “What happened to big, beefy and scary? “Ohh yeah, let’s build a sporty version that can barely down any fuel and waste our money”, that’s what Land Rover said, basically”. Quite.

Nissan Juke

Our fan Austin also took aim at another SUV, this time the smaller and more modestly priced Nissan Juke, which he unceremoniously nicknamed ‘The Puke’. “The Nissan Juke’s shape, and the factory colours it’s made in, are disgusting”, he told us. We must admit, we aren’t exactly rushing to the nearest Nissan dealership whenever we see a sunshine-yellow Juke trundling by.

Nissan Micra

Nissan haven’t fared well among our fans at all, as the car that provoked the most responses was their classic supermini, the Micra. From being described as looking “like a frog” to always being driven by “golden oldies”, it’s fair to say that the Nissan Micra is a true ‘love to hate’ car. If we had a trophy, it would be on its way to them right now.

Reliant Robin

A legend in its own right, purely because it’s so comically awful, the Reliant Robin didn’t manage to escape a place on the most-hated list. That’s in spite of the fact that there are very few left on the roads. Come on guys, give them a break!

Suzuki X-90

We’re trying to remain neutral with our opinions on our fans’ most-hated cars, but…nope. We don’t understand the Suzuki X-90, either. It was produced in the mid-90’s for just two years, which is two years too many, as far as we’re concerned.

Subaru Impreza

This one’s sure to stir up some strong reactions, but one of our very own fans simply cannot abide a Subaru Impreza. As it’s among our list of the best cars for tuning, we’re going to keep our opinions to ourselves on this one. All we’ll say is, if you’re interested in making your Subaru Impreza even noisier, we have plenty of top-notch performance parts coming to the LK Performance website very soon…

Smart Car

We weren’t surprised to see the Smart Car mentioned a couple of times by our fans. It would appear that what the Smart Car lacks in road tax obligations, it equally lacks in good looks and excitement – our Facebook fan Austin McKay called them “far too small” and “dull and boring”. Then there’s the four-door Smart Car, which surely defeats the object of them being a compact vehicle?

MINI Countryman

As our Facebook fan Jeff Lyall pointed out, why would you make a “big, small car”? MINI have confused a lot of people with their Countryman, an inflated version of their updated classic model that fits into the SUV category – but only just.

Dacia Sandero

Famously adored by James May, who dubbed it the ‘anti-fashion car’, this unremarkable mid-sized Romanian hatchback was rather unfairly cited as a most-hated car by our Facebook fan, Adrian Lilley. Though he admitted it was “just to p*ss off James May”. Fair enough, really.

Fiat 500/500L

While they were lapped up by the public when they were first released, the love affair with the Fiat 500 seems to be drawing to a close as our Facebook fan Austin McKay stated that they’re “small, plain and crap. Well the new ones are, anyway. Plus they can now convert – WTF?” WTF, indeed. Fiat didn’t help themselves any when they released the 500L, their self-proclaimed ‘grown-up’ version of the 500 that people are finding hard to love.

Chrysler PT Cruiser

The retro styling of the Chrysler PT Cruiser is divisive, to say the least. Mike Hill, one of our fans on Facebook is firmly on the ‘hate’ side of the opinion divide, telling us that the PT Cruiser is a “horrible, ugly effort of a 50’s throwback. It’s not a hot rod, but people think it is!” If there’s one thing we know at LK Performance, it’s that the custom car community don’t like to be insulted. And to then twist the knife further with a soft-top version? Bad move, Chrysler.

Pagani Huayra

No car is truly safe from the vitriol of car lovers, not even the one million-euro Pagani Huayra, which last year was rated as the tenth fastest supercar in the world. Over on Facebook, LK Performance fan Marc Walker had some strong words about this Italian speed machine, but also about Italian cars in general: “Anything French or Italian, the cars just suck, and that includes the supercars. The Pagani Huayra is a prime example. Don’t get me wrong, they’re fast, but that’s all they are – when they are even working”. Ouch. Shall we send you some ice for that burn, Pagani?
