The Cars We’d Love to Have Unwrapped This Christmas

Posted on: 26/12/2014

Christmas Day has been and gone, and while the LK Performance team received some lovely presents from our loved ones, none were of the four-wheeled variety. It’s a shame we didn’t receive any of the best cars of 2014 that were on our Christmas list this year, but maybe in 2015 we’ll try extra hard to be even nicer.

Here are the cars we’d have been thrilled to receive on Christmas Day – or on any day of the year, for that matter.

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

Reluctantly hailed as ‘excellent’ by Jeremy Clarkson himself, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray hit the roads earlier this year, as the re-modelled version of ‘America’s Sports Car’, the ‘Vette, with even more commanding power and style than before. We’re gutted to have not found one of these 450bhp, 6.2 litre V8 beauties parked next to our Christmas tree, but honestly, we didn’t have time to learn how to manoeuvre a left-hand drive vehicle anyway.

Audi TT Coupe

Who in their right mind wouldn’t have loved to be taking their very own Audi TT out for a Boxing Day spin? Some lucky sods will have done this year, but we aren’t among them as there was no Audi TT coupe waiting on our driveway on Christmas morning. The sleeker, slicker updated version of the Audi TT launched in the middle of 2014 and while some critics commented that it wasn’t hugely different from its previous model, we’re in awe of the chrome detailing, 12.3-inch screen dashboard and lighter, more efficient design. There’s still time to send us one, you know.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class received a luxurious (well, more luxurious) makeover for 201, with a 455bhp twin-turbo V8 under the hood of the S550 version, and a 577bhp 5.5 litre twin-turbo V8 powering the S63 AMG 4MATIC model. Really, we’d have been happy with either, though we suppose that we might have scratched the pristine paintwork when we took our wilting Christmas tree to the skip.

BMW 4-Series

Although the tech-packed BMW 4-Series are just redesigned versions of the 3-Series, we wouldn’t have turned our nose up at one on Christmas Day, especially as we could have had one of two models - the 435i, a 300bhp lump powered by a 3.0 litre turbo-six (which was named Coupe of the Year 2014 by What Car?), or the more modest 428i, with a turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine that gives out a mere 240bhp – in a choice of M Sport, Luxury or Sport trims. Perhaps we’ll be able to pick one up for ourselves in the January Sales.

Jaguar F-Type

After so many Christmases spent wishing for a classic E-Type, we thought this year Santa might finally have given in and brought us Jaguar’s newest, snazziest and curviest car, the F-Type. We suppose there’s always next year for us to finally get our claws into a Jaguar F-Type, with its 3.0 litre supercharged V6 engine, touch-screen dashboard and choice of convertible or coupe models. It’s not like we’re fussy.
